In Preparation for Parenting, we're learning about pregnancy. I was wondering what the amniotic fluid that serves as protection for the baby is made of.

... and sloughed off cells from your baby. When you have an amniocentesis done, they take some of this fluid and analyze the DNA from the cells. Your baby and the aminiotic fluid are all held in a sorta bag. It's cool to imagine that you spent the first 9 months of your life floating in water!
