Hi Scarleteen,

A little over last week, I engaged in dry and oral sex with my boyfriend in the same night. While I know that poses no pregnancy risks, I've missed my period (a week late) and in its place, I've been having strange cramps - almost as if my period is about to come- but it hasn't. I've also had strange burning sensations but no pain in my left ovary, which made me believe that I was experiencing implantation and had me freaked out for the last week. I also have been feeling dizzy and tired. Why am I having these symptoms of pregnancy if I know that there was no risk involved. Does dry and oral sex sometimes cause a period to be late? And what could the burning sensation in my ovary be?

Thank you!

Hi Clatter,

I would start out by giving this a read, since it covers some of the reasons for your symptoms (other than pregnancy because, as you said yourself, you didn't have a risk [Smile] )
Chicken Soup for the Pregnancy Symptom Freakout's Soul

Are the burning sensations ongoing? Because if they are, that would be something to check in with a healthcare provider about to see what's up.

I'm not sure why you are calling symptoms that can be symptoms of many, many things "symptoms of pregnancy."

Things like dizziness and lethargy are common symptoms of so many things, those symptoms alone would not give a healthcare provider much to even work with to try and figure out what is going on. Pain in the ovaries is also something that can be a result of many different things (including an upcoming period).

Oral sex does not and cannot change your menstrual cycle. But you are feeling dizzy and run-down and are having ovarian pain: those are all very sound reasons to go and see a healthcare provider so they can figure out what IS going on.
