I have a sore in the corner of my lips, i thought it was a cold sore however after doing a bit of quick internet research it said that cold sores usually contain fluid and burst. The sore I have contained no fluid at all, its just sore and slightly raised.

Is is possible this could just be a blemish/spot?

Have you had cold sores before? If so, have you ever had a doctor check to assure they were cold sores?

Not that I can remember, I've Google'd images of cold sores and mine looks nothing like any that come up. I know its not wise to rely on what's found on the internet. I just thought it was strange that what I thought may be a cold sore, actually might not be.

can you get in and get seen by a doc soon while it's still there? That's important, because knowing if you have oral HSV or not is important, and the most reliable way to test for that is by sampling an active sore.

Its only been there for 2-3 days and its almost cleared up completely, I don't think I will be able to see a doctor before its gone as I usually have to wait roughly a week for an appointment.

Bummer, but so it goes. Maybe just ask about it when you can be seen? There are other tests, mind.

Okay I will, I have to go soon to get another prescription for my contraceptive pill so I'll ask then.

I read that most cold sores have an 8-12 day 'lifespan' and as mine is almost gone after 3 days and I've never had one before I'm thinking its just a spot. However, I'll still get it checked out next time I go to see my GP
