I know stress affects the menstrual cycle, but does it only affect ovulation? Like, for example, ovulation occured and then soon after, I experienced a significant amount of stress. Would that make my period late even though ovulation was normal? Because I know a period would likely be late if ovulation was late as well.

Also, my cycle varies from 30 to 35 days usually. Is this considered irregular? How do I know if I'm having a late or early period with that much variation? I mean, if one month I had a 30 day cycle and the next I had a 35 day cycle, does that mean the last period was late or is it fine since it's in my normal window of variation? Hope this makes sense.

A variation of around 5 days like that is not considered unusual or irregular, no. If your period happens in that window, I don't think any period in it would be considered late or early.

Behaviours that are a result of stress (really the issue, not stress itself) probably only impact ovulation, which can in turn impact menstruation. But to my knowledge, we don't have a whole lot of study to call on to make that distinction.
