Hi all. I've just bought a Mooncup which I'm wanting to use, but it says to wash it before use. Do I need to boil it before I use it, or can I just give it a thorough soap-and-water wash? I live in a shared house and would not really feel comfortable boiling a menstrual cup in the shared kitchen.
Thanks!

No need to boil it: it's not like someone else has used it before. Hot water and a little gentle cleanser should be just fine. [Smile]

Do you know how you can sanitize a cup without having to boil it, if this continues to be an issue?

Sue thing!

When you need to do more than soap and water (which is a good idea after you're totally done with a cycle), but boiling isn't an option, you can a) use a mix of half hydrogen peroxide and half water (just soak it for a while, then wash it as usual), or b) scrub it with hot water and some baking soda then rinse well.

I've heard that alcohol (like rubbing alcohol) also works, as long as it can air-dry. I use the alcohol prep pads, wipe it well, then wait about half a day before putting it in the little bag it came with and back into my purse.
(don't take my word as automatic fact, however)
