Okay. I guess I'm no so into the word 'vagina'. However, I love vulva! Fun and brilliant! When talking about sex, I'm getting stuck; I think, but I'm really not sure, the vagina is actually part of the vulva? So If I said 'I put a sponge into my vulva' as an umbrella term for vagina, would I be correct anatomy-wise?

The term vulva is the general term referring to all of the outer genitals, of which the vagina is just one of them; here is an article the should help clear things up for you Innies & Outies: The Vagina, Clitoris, Uterus and More . Let us know if you need any clarification on this.

Thanks Dan [Smile] I might start calling my vaginal opening just 'vulva opening' to avoid the word vagina, unless I have to be more specific like at a doctor's or something.

Oh wait, one thing, when folks say the vulva is 'outer' and 'external' does this include the vagina? Or just the vaginal opening? Does 'internal' just mean uteri and ovaries?

Vulva would include the opening part of the vagina, but the whole vagina still is considered one thing. One suggestion I have for you, since you seem to want to avoid the term vagina, might be to simply say 'inside me' as in 'I placed a tampon inside me' (except when talking with a healthcare professional). Does this help?
