Hello!

I was reading another thread, and it sparked my curiosity about testing.

I haven't had any kind of partnered sex in about 4 months, and even before that, no STI risks.

I had blood work done in October, and a PAP, Chlamydia, and GC Genprobe done last month.

I don't know what the blood work consisted of, but it was just the general routine test. Does that include all the recommended testing? I didn't specifically ask for any (partially because blood work is so expensive that I'm terrified that if I ask for anything fancy that I won't be able to afford it).

So did I get all of the recommended testing? If not, what am I missing?

So, it sounds like you had a pap smear and tests for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. Per the blood work, blood work can be done for any number of tests, not just sexual health, so I have no idea what they used the blood to test for.

But if you didn't ask for anything like an HIV screening, like a Herpes or Syphilis test, then it's not likely you were tested for those.

What you want to do with STI testing is ask for a full panel of STI tests.

I also want to be clear that ANY time we have partnered sex, we potentially have STI risks. If we use condoms, we reduce those risks. If partners have been tested and are negatiove for everything, we can know those risks are likely low. But they are never nonexistent.
