So I've been taught time and again that ovulation precedes the onset of your period by exactly 14 days. I've also been taught time and again that when your juices resemble raw egg whites, it's safe to assume you're ovulating and/or it's your fertile window. I have a cycle that's 35 days, give or take. But this month, I noticed ovulating-type fluid on day TEN. That's right, day *ten*. I do not have a 24 day cycle, and suffice it to say, it's day 29 today. How exactly does this work and what is my reproductive system trying to tell me?

It's not exactly for everyone, it just usually is. As well, you may not ovulate on exactly the first day of that mucus, either. Some women have it for a few days first.

Well my raw egg white mucus tapered off and ended for real around day 15, although really it was gone on day *thirteen*. Even so, two weeks after my raw egg white mucus has ended, I'm still bereft of a period. Maybe in my case, that mucus precedes ovulation by a week? I think I need to pay more attention to my raw egg white days. This is really throwing me in for a loop. :/
Maybe it's not such a bad thing that I'm not currently sexually active (if I were I'd be using condoms regardless, FWIW).

Are you charting your cervical mucus and basal temps each day, looking at least at a few months' patterns, or just looking for fertile mucus?

Just looking for fertile mucus. I've kind of been doing a lazier version of that for the past nine years, on and off.

Okay, so I'd not make any assumptions about this if you're not earnestly charting daily, and ideally with BOTH basal temps as well as mucus, not just one.

Just looking for fertile mucus is just....well, it's only one part of the story, and it's not eally charting at all.
