Does someone here drinks energy drinks too such as Redbull, Guru or that sort of stuff ?
I'm just wondering if those are dangerous for my health. My mom said she heard that in some countries it has become prohibited since some people died after having took those probably large quantities of those.
I just take them from time to time at night when I have to study late and I've found that it does help me big time. I feel like I am in sort-like manic episode and I feel really energized, enough to keep me awake like 5-6 hours after having drank it which is great especially when I got lots of study to do.
But my only worry is could it be dangerous ? They say no more than two per day (I never drink 2). Some people said it was a bit like highering your adrenaline and since I am using asthma inhalers and those create some heart palpitations + my heart beats faster when I use them could the mix of the two create some problems ?
Plus, another thing, do you think it's just like caffeine (someone told me that before) and just might highers the chance of me not memorizing the things I'm studying ?
There is caffeine in those drinks, just so you know, but there is actually about half of what you'd find in your average cup of coffee.
From what I can find, a lot of the hype about drinks like Red Bull is that people abuse them. For instance, one serving by itself every once in a while is not particularly harmful, but mixing it with alcohol, for instance, can be, in excess quantities.
Having an energy drink once in a while won't hurt you. To be honest, I don't think they do that much more besides what any caffeinated drink would do. Caffeine is a stimulant, and can restore alertness , and has been shown to temporarily boost performance in the hippocampus, the part of the brain associated with memory. So anything with caffeine will do this, when used in small amounts; the whole energy part is for the marketing, I think.
I also know that energy drinks such as Monster have warnings on them like dont consume more than 3 in a day. As one monster is two servings, that would be 6 servings in a day.
Im not sure on the harmfulness of them but overall I mean if you look at the ingreidents there is alot of crap in it. So its not like your drinking water.
I totally will aggree with what Abbie said "Having an energy drink once in a while won't hurt you." Im sure its totally possible to get a addiction to them though, Because of the caffeine and even the ginseng in them. I mean I know that if I dont have something with caffeine in it everyday I get a caffeine headache because I am addicted to having caffeine in my system.
