Yep, absolutely. Being underweight can cause periods to be lighter or stop alltogether.

And your weight is really very low. Have you talked to a physician about this? Are you eating alright? You should get this looked into.

No, you'll get it back eventually, but depending on your weight situation it might still be very light and short. So I'll reiterate what September said: get yourself checked out, and go from there.

I've heard that being underweight can cause light/nonexistent periods. However, I am also very underweight for my height/age group (Its just how I naturally am) , but my periods are very heavy. Is this just a fluky and rare occurrence or could something else cause my periods to be heavy?

While there are conditions that can lead to heavy menstruation, it's simply more likely that this is just normal for you. [Smile] The heaviness or lightness of your menstrual flow can vary widely, regardless of weight.

being underweight can affect your periods.
it's known that most women with anorexia
do not get their periods.
once a woman reaches a certain
body fat percentage,
their periods usually start again.

(TLG, we have no evidence to suggest that brhat is anorexic. People can be underweight for a variety of reasons- I'm currently underweight because of a chronic digestive tract illness, for example!)
