There aren't any methods to get rid of them. Stretch marks happen because you grow quickly and your skin doesn't have time to "catch up" with the rest of you. You can be any size and have stretch marks...for example, I am 5'2" and 105 lbs and I have them everywhere, and in some rather odd places too (like the backs of my calves).

Using cocoa butter (like Palmer's) can make them less noticeable, and staying well moisturized in general is good. However, the best thing to do here is just to get used to them. They may fade over time, they may not, but they will be there, so you might as well.

I'm rather thin as well, and I've had them on my hips for EVER. I wasn't bothered much by them, but I've heard Mederma, that scar-fading goop, will also help stubborn stretch marks fade.

omg, i was just gonna ask this question! i'm 5'5, 120lbs, i haven't had any dramatic weight gains, but i have these awful deep stretch marks on my hips and thighs. i hate them so much. but are these pretty normal? should i just get used to them? i thought it was like, a pregnant thing. how many people actually have stretch marks and are ok with them? i'd love to hear about yours, i'll feel less insecure if i know its not totally weird.

Almost every person in the entire world EVER is going to have stretch marks at some point in their lives, men and women alike, tall, short, skinny, curvy, you name it.

They really are something that people just need to get used to. Yes, keeping your skin healthy and moisturized can help reduce the appearance of them, but there's nothing that will make them disappear completely, and there's no reason they should.

In addition to that, in general, you're your own worst critic. You're around your body the most, you see your own body more than anyone, and this means that you're going to probably notice things or be more aware of things that other people will never even see, notice, or care about to begin with.

Case in point: my boyfriend didn't notice my deep hip stretchmarks until nearly 3 years into our relationship. Suddenly one day in the middle of cuddly time he said, "...wait, did you always have those?" And then proceeded to tell me that they "looked cool." I was pretty [Confused] but whatever, it was funny and made me realize that I really did focus on them way too much.

I started getting stretch marks as soon as i started to develop around the age of 13. the worst ones are on my hips. but i also have them on my thighs and bum. most girls i know have them in the same areas and we are all average size women. i used to be upset about them until i realized they were there because i was getting curvs. guys get them alot too specially from working out. becasue the muscles grow and the skin isn't. most people don't even notice, and if they do they don't care cuz chances are they have them too.
