Hey all, I just started high school this week (yipee!) and I have a gruelling gym class. It's 80 minutes long every day, except fridays (60 minutes) and on fridays we do pure fitness (the rest of the days its some kinda sport) Over the summer I was running and walking 3-4 times a week too keep myself in shape and maybe lose a few pounds. :) Anyways, my question is, is 80 minutes of a good gym class sufficient excerise? I'm really busy and I dont think i can fit in working out. Anyone know?

It depends on what kind of activity you are doing. I think it definetly is sufficent exercise.
Especially compared to my gym classes. Ours were 45 minutes and with 20 minutes to change that left us with basically 25 minutes. We had to stretch and we did the stupidest things. I hated it. Just to add my two cents.
It sounds like very good excerise and a very good gym program and I wouldn't worry about coming home and excersing too.

Heck yeah! as long as you push yourself and not just sit on the sidelines, 30 minutes of gym class a day is plenty to keep you in shape. Lord knows, i was just thinkin' about that. it's been years since i had gym class, and my physical fitness is definitely on a slide.
btw, also bear in mind there is such thing as too much exercise. so don't get to wrapped up in the idea that "i'm not doing enough." because that's a very unhealthy attitude to have.
yeah, they usually say 1 hour 3 times a week of hard aerobic exercise is good. I'm amazed you have hardcore gym though. Our gym workout was a joke. Much like confused, it was mostly us changing and talking in the weight room. I wish i had a class like yours. maybe i would've stuck with gym.

My gym class is like bootcamp. We have to do ankle jumps and reaches in push up position, then military sit-ups(you would hate to be in my class). That's just the warming up. Then we do our sport(bamitten for now) for a good 45 minutes then out to the track we go...We usually run 3 laps and 4 laps is a mile. Thats every other day, but I have gym every day, on the other days we have archary. It's tough and will get your abs burning but after your done, it feels good to know you've phsically accomplished something.
