Here's the thing. I'm really worried. I read the article about female anatomy, and I was checking out my own, and I discovered I only have about 2 inches of space until what I presume is my cervix, it was like a big lump on the wall of my vagina with a dip in it. The only thing is, I'm really confused, why is there so little space? I read that it moves when you are aroused, but with me it doesn't! I've hardly read anything about the cervix, and no one seems to worry about it, but it is a bit alarming since it seems like a big lump on the wall! and only 2 inches in. Please will someone reassure me? I'm so worried. Nothing is going to fit in there with that little space. Why does no one else ask about it? :S

That sounds totally normal to me for someone unaroused and also does sound like you were feelig your cervix.

Have you really been very, very aroused yet after some other non-vaginal sexual activity and then felt your cervical placement?

And seriously, people have asked before, I promise. [Smile]

I'll try it again, but it really doesn't seem to move... Thank you soooo much though! I feel relieved that it sounds normal [Razz]
It's just that no one seems to talk about it much, I think it should be mentioned more, to someone who doesn't actively try to learn about their genitals and stuff, it might be a bit strange.

When we get really aroused, the cervix pulls back because the back of the vagina expands. How much or how little it does just tends to depend primarily on how aroused we really are. Some days, that may be back just an inch or so, and on other days, the back of the vagina can tent so largely (pulling the cervix back with it) that it is entirely possible to fit a whole hand inside for some women.

I agree, this stuff should be talked about! A lot of the time, women only learn about our bodies when or once there is a problem, or something doesn't work like we think it should. As well, more often than not our sexual anatomy is only really taught in the context of reproduction rather than also including sexual function. But that's part of why we do what we do here. [Big Grin]

In the interest of that, I'm going to move this thread to one of the areas of the board for general discussion.

I certainly learned something new. I did not know that the cervix could be so close to the vaginal opening! Thank you for having the courage to ask.
