A menstrual cup is basically exactly what it sounds like: a small - just over 1 inch in diameter - flexible rubber or silicone cup inserted in the vagina to catch menstrual flow. They're reusable (for up to 10 years!), and many women find them more comfortable than tampons because they simply catch the fluid instead of absorbing it and drying out the vagina.
