If your partner sucks on your neck, it will leave a red mark- that's a hickey. It's not really limited to just your neck, but for some physiological reason it seems to happen much more easily there.

I remember being excited about hickeys when I was about 15, but the fun wore off, after my partner and I realized how embarassing they are. If you like the feeling, then invest in some turtlenecks, haha. They fade in a few days, it's not like they are permanent, but they can make conversations with your parents sort of awkward.

If you don't like or want hickeys, that certaintly does not mean you should ignore your partners neck and vice versa. Kissing, licking, and general gentle touching of the neck feels amazing, and is a wonderful thing; don't be afraid of it.

By the way, you're not stupid at all. Just curious. Nothing wrong with asking things like this, in fact that is sort of the point of this forum isn't it, so good job.

And just to add to that- a hickey is just a bruise that results from biting or sucking on the skin, and hickeys aren't limited to your neck, they can appear anywhere on the body.

About the territory thing: I dunno about that so much. Some guys might look at it like that. . .

Anhoo, no, that's definantly not a stupid question. [Smile] I've never had one, either, so I've always been curious. Everyone is at one point or another, I think. [Smile]
