Perhaps someone inclined toward biology or some other related science would be willing to answer this.

Why is pubic hair a different color than the rest of the hair on our bodies? This isn't necessarily true in all cases, but people who have matching pubic and head hair tend to be very darkhaired anyway. For me (and I assume others, though i can't say I've recently taken a poll of people's pubic hair colors), though, my pubic hair is dark brown (which seems to be the norm) but the other hair on my body is a very noticeably different reddish light brown. So, why is this? Do all humans have basically the same color pubic hair? or does it vary more than i think it does?

thanks :-)

i've got a bachelors degree in biology

Pubic (and axillary aka armpit) hair is darker because of testosterone. during puberty, testosterone levels rise, and they bind to receptors on your cells. if those cells happen to be for hair follciles, the result is thick, pigmented hair.

Ever notice that hair darkens as your get older? the effect is most noticeable in blondes. same deal -- puberty causes hormones to flood the body and the hair changes colors as a result.
