Is breast size inherited from mother to daughter or not? I seem to get idfferent answers to this depending on who I ask.

Does anyone know the scientific answer to this one, or have you found that breast size does run in families or not in the majority of cases?

Just thought I'd log myself into this topic, lol. 5'3", 113 lbs, 34B/bordering on C over here. Most of the time I really like them, but every once in while I think they're too small. I would, however, never consider implants- ugh!

qtbum- I've often heard that breast size is usually determined by the mother's/paternal grandmother's (though not as much as the mother's) size.

I'm 15 (almost) and I am 5'4 and weigh 106 pounds. I'm a 34A. I would like to have bigger ones, but it really doesn't bug me that much...and i've never had a guy say they were too small.

I guess, then, that my breasts are too much, since they're definitely more than a handful! Well, more than my handful--I can't speak for all hands, of course. I'm a 32D, and I love my breasts (I'm a narcissist: I can--and do--spend hours staring at my body and going "mmm, Zanne-body" ). My only real issue is not being able to find bras that fit well, especially since I'm a pretty small 32. Main stream bra manufacturers don't seem to acknowledge that someone can have a small frame but large breasts, and specialty stores can get pretty darn expensive. Bah. Ah, well, I'll just say that my breasts are so special and so wonderful that I have to go to special stores just to find garments worthy of them. ;P

I hear commonly enough very small-built girls liking their A cups, and they look great - but is there anyone else out there who is average sized or larger, and still has very small breasts? I stayed very thin through high school, and when I went to college and gained more weight, my breasts grew only a little with it. Now I tend to feel so hopelessly ugly - I've had to put up with comments from family, friends, and dates for years about how flat I was, guys who'd say 'you'd be cute if you had breasts', or strangers shouting out at me in the street that I need implants, and at least then I felt thin and thus proportional to them. I always tell myself that looking different than the mainstream image gives me the power to find my own kind of beauty, unrestricted by society's image because I'm outside the lines, but still I cry remembering the past 7 years of hateful comments. Does anyone know a way of accepting yourself when you have no "but at least I'm..." rationale?

Yeah I am comfortable with the size of my chest. I am said to have a somewhat bigger chest yet I am happy with it. Of course for small chests there are always pushup bras and for large chests there are always unpadded or normal bras.. So there ya go thats my opinion on it!

about the heredity of breast size

You get two sets of genes, one from your mom and one from your dad. simple enough.

your *father* has as much to do with your breast size as your mother does. of course, he's not the one expressing his breast size gene, so you might want to look at his sisters (if he has any) instead.

Dont be ashamed of small boobs because a lot of women who have big breast wish they were smaller. And if your young dont wish they grew like that because thats how you get stretch marks. Just be happy with what you have and you'll feel a lot more comfortable with them.

I like my own boobs. im 15 and im a 36A/34B and ive had many people (guys and girls)tell me that they are nice. People used to tell me I was "flat-chested" or had "small boobies" when i was in middle school. But seriously nobody elses opinion matters but your own. Padded or Water bras arent going to make you feel like a bigger person, so be satisfied with what you have.

i guess i'm kinda conflicted...

i really hate my boobs most of the time. i find that they hurt a lot and get in the way most of the time. i'm a 38C, but i'm also really girl-clothes-ignorant so i'm struggling to find sports bras that still fit me. i'm going to have to learn how to bra shop some day but i really hate them.

on the other had, they are pretty well proportioned with the rest of my body, so being any other size might be kinda weird.

my boyfriend loves them. he calls me "busty sinclair", "chesty larou", and "hoobity mcboobity", like from the simpsons

It makes me feel better to know that I'm not the only 34-A girl out there, although I do wish at times that they were a little bigger. That's probably because of the images of HUGE breasts that bombard me on a daily basis... but it's ok...I've never gotten any complaints, and, to quote a really good guy friend, "Boobs aren't everything." So simple...and true!

My breasts, for being 14 years old, are a normal size and I thank god every day. For awhile one was larger than the other, and that one still is a little different, but I am learning to love my body however it may look. I know that now my breasts fit my size and hopefully when I grow a little more they will grow with me so I can stay in proportion. I also have found a few really comfortable bras that round me out a little (my breasts, although a normal size for me, 34-36 A, are a little too pointy to go without a bra, I look like Madonna). If you are in my situation try the brand Olga or Vanity Fair. Hope this helps!

Hey, there's nothing wrong with looking like 80's Madonna!

I've never tried the A ones, but Olga does do decent bigger bras, and they last pretty well forever, but are best bought on sale. Warner ones are good for awhile, but tend to get sort of floppy, Spencer does reasonably comfy -- and cheap -- cotton ones in small-ish sizes. Triumph ones seem to be pretty wide. And that's all my bra brand wisdom for tonight.

I have to say that i like my breasts a LOT. i'm a 34C/D (take your pick, it mostly depends on the brand/day of the week/weather conditions/price of tea in china, etc.) and they're quite... versatile. meaning that if i want to wear a t-shirt and go to the movies, they can sit down, shut up and be more or less unnoticed, or if i want more va-va-voom they can do that, too. my only complaint is that apparently bra manufacturers don't think people come in a 34c/d, so sometimes they don't have something in my size. and every so often i have problems with clothing (usually form-fitting dresses and such without much elasticity) because one size will fit most of my body, and the next size up will fit my chest. when trying on dresses for my senior prom, a major part of which dresses i discarded was the "can i breathe" factor.

I happen to be more or less content with my boobs. (well except when I have my period, then i want to get rid of them all together)I'm a 36/38 c or d, all depends on various factors. I'm happy with them, i've been told they are the right size for a handful (i guess it all depends on whose hands ::shrugs: I wish I could go braless out in public with out feeling like my boobs are going to give me a black eye, but I guess a girl has to deal.

I am 5 4, 98 lbs...18 yrs old, with a 32A...and it is soo hard for me to find my size in anything good!, or even fill the small cup as it is, and i get no cute colors, they never have any in my size and those padded or water bras just make me sad. I sometimes like mine, and my guy says he does. I guess they could be worse, at least theyre firm. They hurt on there own from time to time but havent grown much, judging from my family i dont think they will...However i would like them to be bigger, it has nothing to do with trying to look like something off a magazine or for anyone else, its for me. I dont want much bigger, but i want to have something there, i want to have clothes and dresses feel nicer and feel more feminine. I dont want to be "model/magazine" perfect, i want to be the "perfect me". I am thinking of breast augumentation, but if i went through with it, i prolly woulnt have it done untill im about 20-21 years old, it would probably take me that long just to earn the money! But i wouldnt do it without researching it as much as i can. And i feel better knowing it wouldnt be silicone, i would be saline. I sometimes watch a personal story on TLC, and i learn a lot from that.
