I haven't seen a topic like this yet.

I don't even know if there are any other artists out there, but does anyone ever get aroused or excited from drawing something erotic? Or know somebody who does? Or get horny from looking at erotic art by others? (not photographs. just drawings, paintings, sculptures, etc.)

(and don't worry, I won't post any of my art! hehe.)

I sometimes do, but usually if the piece is good, I personally think it's just beauty.
I think that's why artists draw things like that in the first place, it's beautiful.

I'd be surprised if no one said yes.

Eroticism and sexual content in art are literally as old as the hills -- some of the oldest pieces of artwork we have are fertility goddess statues. Visual representations of erotic things or sexual things certainly don't have to be limited to photography... just think of how long the world existed, and how long people were having sex and enjoying sexual thoughts and ideas, before there were photographs!

I went to art school for the summer and I painted 2 nude models together for the first time. There is no way to not express erotism at all, and even the teacher stressed us showing an intamicy between them (she used that term in showing relationships between objects in still lives as well.) -- It's very important for each object or person in a piece of artwork to speak and relate to what is around them... and if you look closely, it is generally erotic even though not meant to be. Paint itself is extremly erotic for me-- putting it down thickly on the canvas and getting the oils all over my hands (i'm sure it's not really too good for me, but it's a nice experience). As for "real" erotic art-- i guess that could be considered drawings of people making love???-- then-- i don't know how the models stay still for that long but-- i think it's just the same as drawing a person alone in an act of everyday life. And if you draw a person you know well-- (like I really want to do a painting of my gf) the love and passion you feel for them is definitly expressed through your brushstrokes. --ok, call me crazy, but artwork in general is a major turn on.. heh.. one of my many fetishes... (now if only i could find some safe paints to re-inact the cheesy but hot scene from better than chocolate...)

It's sexy but not in a horny kind of way.
I see the beauty in it. How the artist details the human body, wether female or male. The colors, the background, if any.
it's very sexy.

i think erotic art is beautiful stuff. i think it's the artists' bravery and boldness to just wake up one day and decide to fashion an art medium to a human image in all its humility and glory for all to see. maybe i'm just babbling, but i think portraying nudes is an absolutely breathtaking process, since you're presenting your take on what humans have. and having the art out there is pure unsullied courage, to be open to such eclectic interpretation! i think that is what makes it erotic...

I thought I was the only one who liked to draw erotic images. I always erase them after I draw them because I'm afraid someone might find them. For some reason photos don't do as much for me. I'm kinda glad I'm not the only artist like this.

I'm the same way. I love to draw nudes and people in romantic situations, but once I draw them I feel embarrassed and sometimes erase them. I'm not sure that I think it's sexy to see erotic images, but when they're well done, I find them very captivating and beautiful. When I'm making love, the whole scene is so lovely to me, I wish I could capture the feelings on paper. I wish I had the nerve to make erotic art, I think it would be very tasteful and not pornographic at all. But I would be afraid of what people think...

If you want to check out a really great photography book on nudes check out NUDES. On the cover their is a naked woman, only her breast are visible and her bellybutton. On the back is a man with a large chain around him. It's realy great.

yeah, i appreciate the aesthetics of erotic art. i would have to give mad props to the photographers who took the pictures on Miz Scarlet's other page (don't look unless you're over 18!) because those are simply gorgeous.

I don't find it particularly arousing, but I like it. Now really good erotic poetry is some arousing stuff.

My friends may think I'm weird. I've been drawing since i was 5, so about 10 years. But I absolutley love drawing the female body. It's a work of art in itself. Adding things, like making mermaids or centaurs adds a more interesting catch. Not to be full of myself or anything, but they turn out really good. Not quite like the one from Titanic, but pretty close. My parents don't mind; they see it as part of my talent. Plus, its fun. Shading adds awesome effects.

Heehee! I like this topic, even if it is really old.
Good to know I'm not alone in this. A lot of times, I start out drawing a picture of a nude, but then I get self-conscious and put clothes on them. A shame, 'cause it means I don't get to compare old doodles with new ones and get better at anatomy.

If my mom found out about these drawings, she would probably respond the way she does to a lot of the stuff I draw: 'It's awful dark.' 'This is horrible! Why isn't it more happy?' 'They look like demons!'

Never mind what she says. As long as I hide them in the shoebox under the bed...

I just got an inspiration reading this thread. I really like to draw, and i have drawn the female body but, I also either erase it or put clothes on them. I guess someone would think im a lesbian or something, which im not, i just appreciate being a female myself.

I also have to admit when I have seen art like a drawing or sculpture, it sometimes is exciting, not that I get all horny but they are nice to look at. Like some of those commercials with the statue of David in them, now thats a nice body.
