quote: Yes, lots. Artifical fragrance is a bad thing to put inside your genitals, period. Doesn't matter what it's in. It's also a lovely way to give yourself a yeast infection.
quote: Sure.
quote: Is it an unused tampon? If so, no, I don't see why it would be.
quote: We don't advise it, especially if you're using commercial brand tamppons which are not organic, unbleached cotton. It's a better idea to use a pad, washable pad, menstrual sponge or a Keeper for that purpose. Tampons, especially commercial tampons, can cause Toxic Shock Syndrome if not changed regularly, and 8+ hours is a long time to leave one in for. ------------------ My epitaph should read: "She worked herself into this ground." I dont know exactly for sure, but ill try to help you out from experience and hear/say. 1. I heard that scented tampons can be harmful, maybe due to irritating the vagina because it is so delicate, and may even cause yeast infections, kinda like how scented soap isnt recommended to use there. They may have a warning on the box, you could check there. I would think if you can get unscented its better. However last time i picked up a box, they didnt have the kind i like and am used to in "unscented", so i used the scented and i havent had any problems, not that i can feel or see. 2. Hmm, is it okay to masterbate with one in and no penetration?, i have no idea, all i know is that when im on my period and i get with my guy i need some affection of my own and i do rub up against him untill i climax, there never seemed to be problems in doing this, however when it comes time to pull the tampon out by the string, it proves a little more dificult from being so wet. 3. I couldnt answer this, i have no idea. 4. Sleeping with a tampon is not recomended, you shouldnt leave them in for too long, i think youll be at risk for "toxic shock sydrome" but i heard of tampons that were made to be okay sleeping in, but i would recomend a long thin pad for nightime, if your anything like me its no big deal, (i dont seem to have much of a period when i sleep at night, anymore anyway.) Well i hope this helps! IP: Logged |

A Keeper is an alternative menstrual product--it is a rubber cup that you insert during your period, and when needed, you empty it. I have one and I think it's great. Eco-logique has more information about the Keeper IP: Logged |

i think this thread answers a lot of basic questions about tampons really well, so I would like to move it to Sexual Health and Medicine and add it to the forum FAQ. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Gumdrop Girl (edited 12-27-2002).] IP: Logged |
