I've just found this really interested. Everytime I've bought condoms at a drug store, there are no dental dams. They can be just as important! I mean, you could probably cut a condom open and use that, but still... There's no ads for them either. Why is that? I've seen ads for Trojan condoms, but not dental dams? I don't really see ads for contraceptive foam either, only the pill. Why is it that the public isn't as easily informed about other contraceptive products? They're still effective too! ------------------ IP: Logged |

This proves your point, but what's a dental dam? IP: Logged |

Pinup, a dental dam is a thin sheet of latex about 6 inches by 6 inches. You use it to cover female genitalia during cunnilingus (oral sex on a girl). ------------------ IP: Logged |

I can safely say there are no dental dams in Singapore. I have never seen them in drugstores, pharmacies, condom stores. Maybe I can find them at those illegal makeshift stalls. I never even heard of them until I came to Scarleteen. But those dental dam holders are the funkiest things. Woo hoo. IP: Logged |

Same here - over here, you can't get dams at normal drugstores, only at pharmacies (and they have to order them), at my local condom stor and at a female run sex and Safer Sex shop called "Tools'n Toys" - they have a huuuuge variety of damns. Lots of flavours. Lovely. But well, you cans till use good old cling wrap. And that is available at every supermarket. I agree with you keoki, there should be advertisement for dams. They should be available everywhere. Maybe it's time for a round of protest letters to Walmart? ------------------ "We must become the change we want to see." IP: Logged |

You could use cling wrap, or probably just cut a condom open, but still... All options should be available. I wonder if they have them at a Planned Parenthood or a Health Clinic? They have other sorts of contraceptives, so why not dental dams? It's just silly. A letter should be written to somebody, but I don't know who. Who ever does those Safer Sex ads would be good. But I don't know the name of them. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Keoki, I really think the best would be to contact the shops where you can't buy the stuff you need - aka the Dams. So find out the contact info for whatever supermarket or drugstore chain you want ot complain to. And contact them. (and tell us, so that we can all bombard them with eMail, too) The Health department (or one of his subsidiaries), which is usually responsible in most countries for Safer Sex Ads probably know about the fact dams aren't widely available, but can't do much. I mean, you can't force a company to sell something that they don't see a need for, right? So show the shops you shop at that there IS a demand for dental dams. Planned Parenthood & Sexual Health clinicy, btw, usually have dams to show off. ------------------ "We must become the change we want to see." IP: Logged |

Just to make all of those who would like to help me out, I contacted CVS because that is where I buy my contraceptives. I don't know the email address because it was a form on the website (www.cvs.com). So, help out if you'd like to. ------------------ IP: Logged |
