Glitter, As we've said before, take a look at the list on the right hand side of this page for condom brands Hanne and I recommend: http://www.scarleteen.com/shop/safer/ In addition, using them correctly is huge. That means using enough lubricant outside the condom, and putting it on correctly, too. IP: Logged |

Do. Both Hanne and I agree, you couldn't find a less comfortable, less durable condom than Trojans of you tried. Check out the list we posted here: http://www.scarleteen.com/shop/safer.html It includes our favorites, most notably, Kimono and Durex brands. IP: Logged |

Whats the difference? I mean arent they made out of the same material, what make one not as durable as another? Lotz of people say Trojans are good, but I think they say that because thats really the only brand that they know, because its on TV all the time. I dislike those commercials so much, they are just annoying. ------------------ IP: Logged |

It really depends. Latex, like any manufactured material, varies widely in it's quality from company to company and manufacturer to manufacturer. The cut is another biggie. Trojans tend to have the smallest cut of nearly any other brand, and a too-snug fit is going to contribute to breakage. In fact, it never fails that most condom breakage stories I hear (and boy, we hear plenty of'em) are with Trojan condoms. Trojans are the most merketed in the states, and it is what most people use first because they have some name recognition. But to be as honest as I can, if I had to choose between having intercourse with a Trojan condom and not having it at all, it'd turn out to be a very quiet and solitary evening. Bleck. SafeSense (formerly Condom Sense) which I like a lot and where I have bought condoms in bulk for years now, has some great basic info on every condom they sell that can give you a better idea when comparing brands. For instance, look at three varieties of very thin condoms: a Trojan Very Thin, the thinnest Trojans offers, a Crown Skinless (a less common brand as far as drugstores, but easy as heck to find in any condom store) and a Kimono MicroThin (which rates as one of the strongest condoms by FDA standards as well as one of the thinnest, and most health food chains carry them) and the measurements listed for them by the very helpful folks at SafeSense: Trojan-Enz Nonlubricated: Crown Skinless Kimono Microthin You'll notice that Trojans tend to be longer than most condoms, which is a bit silly since the shortest condom I have ever seen stretches easily to halfway up my arm. On the other hand, look at the width and thickness: they are less wide, which is what bothers most men and makes for a too-snug fit, and they are thicker than the other brands. In fact, their thinnest condom is actually the same thickness as other brands regular condoms, like Lifestyles. The other thing to bear in mind is that international brands, or brands from other countries imported here have to pass stricter FDA standards than American-made condoms, like Trojans, do. Hope that helps. Dear god, I'm a latex geek. The things I do for you! :P IP: Logged |

glitter, my boyfriend and i are very fond of Durex. We just bought a bunch online. Miz S, are we allowed to post urls of that nature? The only drawback is that you need a credit card. Anyway, specifics, we like the Durex High Sensation Ribbed, no spermicide! They're wider in diameter, so my boyfriend finds them to be much more comfortable. I do like the textured condoms. Durex feel more comfortable for both of us, can't really explain it, it just does. And as always, Astroglide personal lube. good schtuff! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Do those "ribbed" condoms work good? Does it give the women better sitmulation? I think I wanna try those with my boyfriend, but if they dont work then we wont even bother trying them. I dont even know what a ribbed condom looks like. Hmmm? ------------------ IP: Logged |

glitter- mebbe your boyfriend's penis is on the thick side? i know trojans have a rather small diameter, and when we use regular-size condoms we have a hard time getting them on because they have to stretch so much. it helped when we tried brands other than trojan: durex, lifestyles, and kimono are all better. but if the girth is really the problem, you might want to consider buying bigger condoms. magnums, although they are trojans, are the easiest to find (at most drugstores) and even though we feel funny buying them (they come in a box that's bigger than normal sized condoms, for some reason...it's odd) it was really worth it. i think maxx is another bigger brand, but harder to find. anyway, i don't know if this will help, but good luck

I thought the Trojan extra large ones were about as big as most condoms made by other manufacturors. I mean, I was able to get a foot and most of my calf (nothing kinky, just curious) into one of the Lifestyles ones . . . IP: Logged |

They are indeed. The largest Trojan is only about a millimeter larger than almost any other brands REGULAR condom. Really, I've said it before and I'll say it again (and believe me, I wouldn't say so if it wasn't, because it doesn't make us any pals): Trojans are very poor quality condoms. They're cut badly, and they don't wear well. Do bear in mind that the FDA standards for condoms made in America are much less stringent than other countires regulations on condoms. Emsily's brand list is all good in my experience, and so far as testing and stats go. And I'm still with Joryuu, Kimonos *are* the best thing on the planet, though the Microthins have a ring that may not work for very wise penises, but Maxx condoms are also a Kimono brand. Inspiral/Pleasure Plus are also a big favorite, and they're cut generously, and have a neat little "pillow" that is nestled under the head of the penis to increase sensation there. IP: Logged |

>Microthins have a ring that may not work >for very wise penises, but Maxx condoms are >also a Kimono brand. Wise penises? That is definitely one of the funniest typos I've ever seen Miz Scarlet. At least I hope that was a typo. If not, how would I know how wise a penis is? Should I give it an intelligence test before deciding which kind of condom to put on it? ------------------ IP: Logged |

when you say trojan's largest size, you mean magnums? that sort of surprises me, because we did notice a big difference between regular size kimonos and magnums, just in terms of how easily they went on. maybe it has something to do with the shape? oh well. i'd rather use maxx than have to contend with condoms breaking. em IP: Logged |

Oh, my typos. I swear to god, I will never live them down. In my defense, do remember that I have only eight functional fingers to type with. And as some good news, a spell-checking plug-in will be coming soon for this board, so I may soon be spared from being the butt of jokes all the time. Emsily, regular kimonos have a smaller ring that Trojan magnums, which is usally the biggest issue for WIDER (not wiser) penises. The thing with condom size is that we're dealing with three factors: the eidth of the base ring, the width of the entire condom and the length of the condom. But Maxx condoms (also made by Kimono) are larger than magnums and far better made. IP: Logged |

Miz Scarlet, where did your other two fingers go? ------------------ IP: Logged |

Mi index and second finger on my right hand were dismembered when I was a kid. They reconstructed them as best they could (given pretty unsophisticated plastic surgery techniques at the time), so they don't look totally bizarre, but I they don't work for light contact activities light typing because 1) I have very little feeling in them and 2) the first finger is made from cartiledge that kida flops over when I try and push something with it. ------------------ "If you're a bird, be an early early bird -- IP: Logged |

I'm one of those lucky gals who is allergic to latex, so for the rest of yas (cause I know you're out there), I think that Durex Avantis are nice. Except not the lubed kind for oral sex. That, I have found, is a bad, bad idea. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Avantis are excellent indeed. And in case you're ever itching (no pun intended) for a change, Sapphire, the Reality female condom is also non-latex. IP: Logged |

Angelgirl-You sure can get condoms in bigger sizes, you can even order them from this here site. Try the next biggest size until you find one that doesn't hurt him, but is still very snug. And make sure he's got it on right (if you need to know how, check out the Boyfriend section-plenty of excellent stuff) Next time you have a question, feel free to start a new topic, so it will be more noticable. Would you mind taking off the CAPS lock, too Oh, and Welcome to Scarleteen! ------------------ IP: Logged |
