Hi, A question to Heather or anyone that has read it is "Harmful To Minors: The Perils of Protecting Kids From Sex" by Judith Levine a good book to read or not. I've heard all religious people and critics knock it left, right and centre but I wanted a sex-educator/advocates thoughts on whether we ought to read the thing or not. IP: Logged |

It's an excellent book. For those of us very well-versed in these issues, some of it may seem a bit old hat, but they're all addressed beautifully and in-depth, and to be plain, the fracas is generally coming from people who haven't even read one page of it. It's not short, light reading, it's pretty academic, but yes, I'd reccomend it. An interesting companion book to go with it,-- which focuses less on teen sexual rights than fiscal and political ones -- might be "Generation on Hold." (Cote, Ecolar). ------------------ My epitaph should read: "She worked herself into this ground." IP: Logged |
