I've decided I don't want to use B/C pills anymore, but I don't want to use just male condoms. Does anyone have any ideas what else is effective?

Some other methods that work well combined with condom use are diaphragms, depo-provera or other hormonal methods that aren't the pill, or -- if your periods have regulated and you chart -- using condoms during all times, but being abstinent completely during your most fertile times.

My personal favorite is the shot (Depo Provera; really tiny needle).

This site has a nice guide; see if you can find one that sounds worth looking into:

What exactly is a diaphragm? I mean, aside from the muscle under one's lungs.

It's a little rubber cup designed to be filled with spermicide and fitted over the cervix, acting as a barrier. They have to be fitted by a doctor, but are reusable. Similar forms of contraception would be cervical caps, and a new type called Lea's Shield, which doesn't have to be fitted, and is made of silicone.
