Hi, castrochick, and welcome to the boards!

Scarleteen really isn't a forum for meeting people IRL, but we've had several threads on the "how do I meet other queer people?" subject in the past. Why don't you give the search function a try and read over what other people have said?

Hey Castrochick!! Welcome to the boards and don't worry, they're out there. I didn't think they were either but now I know a lot of gay people through this it! I think I started my own thread when I first came here asking the same thing as you so at least that should come up on the search anyhoo!!!

Hey Castrochick! You should use the search function, but I can also help you specifically. I assume that the "Castro" in your username is referring to Castro Street in San Francisco, since you also said you were in the Bay Area. You're in luck! There's a GLBT youth center right near there called LYRIC (Lavender Youth Recreation and Information Center). It's on Collingwood St. between 18th St. and 19th St. It's a big lavendar house. If you ask anyone young in the Castro, they'll probably be able to direct you to it. It's a supercool place, and I was hanging out there all summer when I was in SF. Highly reccomended! They have tons of activities, groups, and hanging out time. People are really friendly, and it's easy to make friends there. Yay for LYRIC, if only I could have brought back to New York with me . . .

dude. i used to go to lyric all the time. that's where i used to hang out. i don't kick it there anymore because that's basically the center of where i did all my drug use (that park across the street). i'm trying to stay away from old areas now that i'm clean and sober. thanks anyway though. i'm looking for more of something to do in the east bay....maybe the pacific center or something....i dunno. i just wanna kick it sometimes

Oh, I see the problem. There was a definitely a major drug culture going on there, and it wasn't a big problem for me, but I understand how it could be if you have had a problem with it in the past. I actually tried drugs for the first time in the aforementioned park, when I was 14 and visiting LYRIC, funny that you should mention it. I don't know any East Bay places off the top of my head, but I know that LYRIC put our a Bay Area Queer Youth Resource Guide, and it's in my room somewhere. I'll check it out for you when I get home and see if I can find anything.

right on for that....the resource guide thing. i think that would be a good help. meanwhile, i'm gonna check lyric's webpage and see if they have anything going on in the way of conferences or maybe some links to some east bay stuff
