Mary, I think we both ultamately come down on the same side on this issue. I am very much for the rights for gays and lesbians to adopt and have kids. Rasing a kid is a big job and it is better to have two adults around than just one, regardless of their gender. By the way I just finished reading a great and very funny book on the subject. "The Kid" by Dan Savage. It tells the story of a gay couple who decide to go through an open adoption process. I also agree with you that if a child is being raised in a single gender household (either one or two adults) the parent or parents should make a special effort to find role models of the other gender for the kid to relate to.
