Hey, Scarleteen community members.
While (and we hope you know this!) we certainly don't think any of you owe us anything for providing the free support, education and information we do, we know some of you sometimes ask how you can help us out. And as it turns out, we could really use some right now. Today, we've started our fundraising push for the year, and we really, really need this to go off so we can turn things around here and be better able to sustain Scarleteen as an organization. That appeal is here: http://www.scarleteen.com/article/etc/young_people_need_our_help_and_support_we_need_yours In case non-profit management and budgets aren't your biz, to put things into perspective, most organizations who have even half the reach we do, and do anything close to our level of direct services typically run on budgets in the millions of dollars each year. That perhaps explains why the $45,000 we made do with last year was one heck of a struggle and also really keeps us back from growing as we'd like to serve you, and doing all Scarleteen does in a day without being out of breath at the end of the day. We know most of you are not in the position to donate money. If you are, perhaps obviously, what you can give can really help. But if you're not -- and again, we really think of this as something older people should be willing to financially support FOR you -- if you could make an effort for us to share that appeal on your social networks, that could be a big help. That way, people who CAN donate may see it. Making that more than just a link is also especially powerful: if you feel safe and up to saying a few words about how this is a service you use and value yourself, that makes a stronger appeal than any we can write on your behalf. We'd really appreciate any help you can give us with this right now. Again, while we don't think you owe us anything, we'd really like to make sure we can keep Scarleteen available to you, serving you as well as it can, and know you share that want, too. Thanks!

Just giving this a bump today because we truly need this help from those of you who can give it.
We haven't had many social network shares on our fundraising appeal, and have seen only a couple from younger people. Can you please help us with this today?

Just a reminder to folks: You can promote our fundraiser on your social networks without identifying yourself as a scarleteen user. There's no reason for anyone to think that you use our services because you promote them, so if you're worried about your privacy, no need to be. So, if that's holding you back, you now have no reason not to share.

We still really, REALLY need your help with this.
We know you value Scarleteen and want it to be able to continue. But that's going to get harder and harder without you, our users, finding ways to get out there to the people you know and making clear to them THAT you need this. Really, no one's voices can or do speak better to how important us staying online is than yours, and when they're silent? Well, I'd say that that, more than almost anything, gives people the impression that you just don't care (even if that's not true) whether we remain around or not. People think that when someone really wants and need something, they make some noise when they might not be able to have it. If you need ideas on how to say something, please ask us: we're happy to help you figure out how to do that in a way that's safe and sound for you. But we really need your help: I hope you all know by now that we wouldn't trouble you by asking for it if it wasn't critical.

Bumping this so it stays visible.
