This is a different question than most but i want to see what people think. Should the government have say in what people do sexually?(this does not include rape or abuse which are definitly wrong.)

I'd say no, if it's not hurting anyone (who doesn't want to be, ahem). I don't remember who said it, but there's a wonderful quote on this subject;"Does it really matter what these affectionate people do, so long as they don't do it in the street and frighten the horses?"

personally, no, i dont think they should have any say or really even any care about who is sleeping with whom, as long as it is consentual. in fact i think it is very very few peoples buisness, and i fail to see how it makes a difference in their life what other people do in private. that said, i do believe age of consent limits should be enforced. its like.. religion in politics, personal choices, and opinions that dont have a huge amount of affect on society in general, shouldnt come into politics, in my opinion. *edit* spelling mistake. Absolutely not, because to say in certain situations that sex is wrong is drawing a line between was is acceptable and what is not, and no one should have that authority, Plus its a human right to bear children

quote: I'd say no, if it's not hurting anyone (who doesn't want to be, ahem). Thank you :-) Pierre Elliott Trudeau, one of the best Canadian Prime Ministers, said "This State has no business in the bedrooms of the nation." He was right.

what about drugs? should those be legal as long as you only confine it to your own home?

As long as you confine yourself, while under the influence, to your own home, I would argue yes. The major problem with drugs is they interfere with your judgment, and you may leave the house. If you can adequately ensure you are confined in a safe way (most useful: Having sober people guard you that you can trust to not let you go driving or swimming naked in a stream), then yes, drugs should be allowed. Excepting drugs with flash-backs, because you can never control the flash-back, and thus you could at any moment harm others. Unless you are willing to spend the rest of your life in a straight jacket and padded-white cell. As long as you can do it without harming others, it is okay. Harming yourself is not a crime. Cigarettes, alcohol, fast food - people pick painful ways to kill themselves every day. Why should drugs be any different?

Just wanted to reclaim the topic from a threadjacking... There cannot be an absolute YES or NO to this answer. Dustindawind, sometimes "definitely wrong" needs to spelled out plain and simple. Case in point? People generally agree that it is unethical to have sex with animals. however, in some parts of the world (like the state of Washington, a la Mr. Hands), the law does NOT explicitly state that it is not lawful to have sex with animals. The state was banking on a general consensus that bestiality was wrong. However, when a man died from having sex with a horse, there was little the state could do to prosecute the people who were frequenting that farm to have sex with livestock. Then there's pedophilia. NAMBLA has been trying to justify and enable pedophilia as just another sexual preference, or even orientation! They fight statutory rape laws and the like. but this is another case where the law needs to come out and say NO. Should the government have any saw whether two consenting adults engage in anal sex? no, I don't think so. I disagree with sodomoy laws in general. but is there a real black and white answer to government regulation in the bedroom? No. For those of you who think government should be less involved in EVERY aspect of our lives, check out libertarianism. Read about it and think it over
