This is very random situation (hence why it's in this section. lolz
), but: long story short, I really want to get a nose piercing, probably sometime next month. The thing is, the new job I have at school is a front desk position in a professional environment and I don't know if it would necessarily be okay with my employer. I'm thinking about not getting one for the next semester because of keeping my new job, but I'm not sure if it would make a difference if I maybe got a small, delicate stud instead of a hoop like I planned? I don't even know. Has anyone else experienced this sticky situation? Anyone have any advice? Thanks ahead of time!

I think the best way would be to check if there are any policies regarding dress and things like tattoos/piercing/haircolor. And if there is nothing like this, you can always ask your employer directly how they feel about this.
Alternatively, if you do not want to ask directly, are there any co-workers who have piercings or tattoos? That might help you gauge what is and is not accepted. When I got my nose pierced last summer, I did not check in with my boss. But I assumed based on my experience at this job that it would be alright - I have a bunch of tattoos, some of them big and visible, and my boss never commented on those (and hired me despite them). So I had reason to assume that I'd be fine, and I was.

Yeah, I think I'll just subtly ask her about dress code/piercing/related policies. But virtually all of my co-workers are not even from my generation, even though I work in a school with people around my age. Thanks for your advice!

I know exactly what you mean aye!
At school I'm not meant to have a nose piercing so I put a bandaid I've fit but they still told me off so I took it out Nd I wanna get a nose ring but I doubt I'll be allowed

I know my jobs never allowed nose rings. But, if you do get one, you can always try wearing a flesh colored one to hide it. If they still don't like that, you can keep the ring in a little zip lock in your pocket, and just poke it through the hole every time you go to the bathroom!
just try to get it when you won't be at work for awhile, so it can at least start to heal!
