Hallo! Anyone here into the Furry Fandom? It really sucks that the media is only focusing on the festering cesspool of nasty furry perverts out there, becase you know, nothing that makes anyone look halway decent, or something that affected people in a GOOD WAY is really worth any money. Just look at the UNITED STATES NEWS "today, in deep south Bolivia, three people were found dead in a small overgrown hut in the jungle, news reporters flock to the scene to show the world this tragic, earth shattering event."
Anyway, if you are into the fandom, what's you furry? Do you have any artwork? Roleplay at all? I'm pretty much isolated from anyone my age (13) on the internet who is into my kind of stuff. ^_____^ Bai!

If it bothers you that the media just focus on people who are furries for sexual seasons, fine; but you don't need to insult them, okay?

I'm really okay with it, whatever they do but as you know, the majority of America (and everyone else, I think) all think they're crusty prevert hell spawns, ya know?

Er, I thought that was just Something Awful. Either way, though, it's cool to have intelligent, civil discussions, so let's get this one going in a better direction so it can continue to be discussed, okay?------------------ Milke, with an L, Mrs BD to you, RATS, TMNTP, MF, CWCD, WAOTA

I've heard of the whole furry thing before, but I think i've heard of the stuff that gets alot of attention. Whats the difference between the normal and 'perverted" furries?

Okay, maybe preverted, I admit, wasnt the right choice of words, it's just what people think they are. The furries the media focuses on are the people who use furries as a sexually deviant subculture. Which is fine.Me and my firends, just use furry as an art style, and a way to really express our personalities, and roleplay. Plus we just think they're cooler and more fun to draw than humans. ^_^

Arf! Looks like I'm the first actual furry to reply I'm a wolf, and while I'm not an artist, I am working on a furry fiction series, which you can find on my website (www.lupinia.us). I do have a good bit of artwork of my character(s), but I didn't draw any of it
To answer Jeangenie, the majority of furries are in it for the artwork, spirituality, costuming, writing, and/or general comradery. There are some who are in it because they fantasize about having sex as a humanoid animal, and/or with a humanoid animal. There's nothing wrong with this, of course, and neither Molly nor I are saying that there is. However, there's a big misconception that furry is a sexual fetish rather than an art fandom. It's like saying all anime fans are in it for hentai porn.
Anyway, enough ranting about that, furryness is a fun thing! [wags his tail]

Wow, I thought no one would ever reply :-P Y'all are welcome to check out www.furryteens.org. I'm not really involved with it as much as I used to be, but I provide hosting for the site, and it's a great place for teens who are interested in furry to get more info.

Well to be honest with you i think you saying the cesspool of pervrets is rather closed minded of you, i am a huge furry fan in both sexual role play and regular old rping. i mean i dont dress up in costumes and hump bunnys by i find the idea of a anthro man or woman very attractive. p.s. My animal is wolfs, (i know not very original)

I... am a naked mole rat. Well, not really. But I think that there is something rather spiritual in Furry Fandom.

I think the original poster was saying that all you ever hear about on the news and whatever is the perverted nasty people who are into the fandom, not that the poster was generalizing the whole fandom that way. I don't think myself a furry, but I do enjoy drawing anthros, and RPing (in the game sense, not the sexual sense). If anyone knows any good MUDs or anything that actually have RP in them and isn't just a big cyber pool *coughTapscough* then let me know.

I have a friend who's big into the whole furry thing and I have a question for you guys!! Is it that you guys fantasize that you ARE a furry, that you WISH you could be a furry, or that you just like to draw/write about/whatever furries?? Or is it a combination of all of it?? Cuz the way my friend explains things is really confusing Thanks!

It's like saying all anime fans are in it for hentai porn. ...and you're saying that such a statement would be inaccurate somehow? j/k...

fox0r - try the IRE games, probably Achaea in specific. I played Achaea for about three years, and it's a lot of fun. Free to play, a built in help system, lots of support to newbies, etc. As far as the furry side goes, Achaea has many part-human races, rajamala in specific being a favourite (tiger people, mm mm good.) The RP can be really good, and personal interaction is emphasized.

As soon as someone mentioned furries, SecondLife came to mind. SecondLife is a bit of an MMO -- totally controlled by the users, known as "residents". I stumbled across it after a transgendered friend mentioned "virtual group therapy" -- via the game! I hopped on, and the world is pretty interesting. Of course, any time there's a catgirl, two foxes, a human, and some sort of wolf guy all cuddled on a couch together, talking about human sexuality -- yeah, things are BOUND to be interesting/odd/downright hilarious. Basically, sexuality in all forms is welcomed, all belief systems are respected, and all sorts of people show up. [ 12-24-2006, 11:13 PM: Message edited by: daria319 ]

SecondLife sounds intresting. Unfortunately, they don't appear to have Linux support.
