http://myparentswereawesome.tumblr.com/ Have any of you seen that yet? I so, so love that project (so much that I submitted a photo of my mother a few months back, actually). I think it's a really cool way of remembering that parents were where you're at now, once, and not all that different from you. It can be so easy to think they were NEVER EVER like you, and that the way you know them is the way they always were, so I love the reminder.

I loooove that site. I think it's a nice reminder that our parents are human beings with feelings, dreams, likes and dislikes all of their own. It's easy to forget they were once young and idealistic when they're scolding us for leaving dirty socks all over the house.
Although - I do think it's a shame the site isn't called My Parents ARE Awesome - because even though he's nearly 60 years old, my Dad is still the life of any party as well as the greatest man I know.

Ahhh I love old photographs XD The Niagra one reminds me of a picture of my dad, his siblings and my grandparents in the same barrel at Niagra falls. When I was a kid, they convinced me that they actually went down in a barrel!
I know how easy it is to think my parents aren't like me at all. We have such different values with things- and their old-fashioned-ness drives me berserk! But there's little things that remind me that- hey! They're human too. For example, I was singing a Rocky Horror song the other night and my dad was like "Oh we used to all go to the midnight showings!" My dad. And Rocky Horror. I just can't imagine it XD. I've got some pictures of my parents at their wedding that are just fantastic! There's one where they went to cut the cake, and the icing all came off in one chunk. The look on their faces is hilarious Also, there's a picture from sometime in the late 70s of my dad in short shorts and knee high socks and an AWESOME long hairstyle... At Disneyland. Oh and I've got wedding pictures of my mom's parents... They're so incredible to look at. My nain (that's welsh for grandmother) and grandad got married during WWII in England. Anyways, this is neat. Thanks for sharing, Heather

My parents still are awesome!
But I bet I could find some great pictures of them before they had children. They had kids in their thirties and were together for nearly ten years before that, traveling the world and being communist hippie liberal types. Great blog!
