How can i block private calls, from calling my cell?
my ex still calls me and he was abusive, emotionally. And i have a new bf of 8 months whom i love and treats me right. I just cant get the ex to go away. ive blocked him on IM'ing me,ive blocked private calls from calling my home phone. Unfortunately the same technique doesnt work on cell phones. i tell him to leave me alone. He even asks if i want him out of my life all the time and i always say YES! why wont he just listen? and how can i block his calls?

Could you try calling your cell phone company and checking with them on how to block either the number or all private calls? They should be able to either tell you how, or can do it for you.
Until then, would you just be able to not answer calls from private numbers, and if you have any voicemails, let a parent or trusted friend check and erase them for you?

I looked into blocking calls on my mobile phone, and apparently, you cannot block an incoming call. Or so says Cingular Wireless.

Another thought I had, if you find you can't block an incoming call like Gumdrop did -
it may be a bit of a hassle, but why not get the number changed and don't get any sort of forwarding service? Then, only let your friends and family know the number and be sure they know that you want it to be kept as private as possible.

This happened to me with a random Internet stalker-type and when I contacted Verizon directly, they told me I was unable to block specific numbers. To compound the problem, I also was unable to block numbers that are blocked or that otherwise show up as "unavailable."
Changing my number seemed like too much of a hassle, so what I did was add the main number he called from and had it display as "Do Not Answer" when he called. I also gave all unavailable numbers their own specific, very irritating ringtone and I just refuse to pick up the phone if it rings with that tone. My voicemail states that if anyone wants to talk to me, they'll have to unblock their number first or I will simply not pick up (and would be unable to return their call, since I wouldn't have the number). This has worked nicely. The random person has stopped calling, and people know not to prank call me because I simply will not answer.
