Hi there I have a question about lube use in anal sex. I have read almost everywhere that it is kind of mandatory to use lube for anal sex, since the anus doesn't lubricate itself; otherwise it is painful. The thing is, I recently tried anal sex as a receptive partner. We didn't have lube, so we used a bit of saliva and my own vaginal lubrication instead. I first tried with a finger, then my boyfriend did, and then he entered me with his penis. We went slowly and kindly and I didn't feel pain at all, only pleasure SO my question is: as long as it doesn't hurt at all, is it okay to do it this way, using body fluids only? The thing is, I try to reduce the amount of artificial products I use/absorb, and I don't know which brand of lube to choose to have something possibly not-so-bad-for-health-and-the-earth. Thanks

HI kayajaaa, Generally, bodily fluids aren't going to have the staying power needed to keep things lubriccated enough. If you were going slowly, you likely didn't get a lot of friction. Generally pain is our signal that something is wrong, but I'd still say that using some extra lube is a good idea as a preventative. tears to the anal tissue can be very painful, and can increase risk of various kinds of infection. There are many gentle lubes on the market that don't have a lot of icky ingredients in them. I'm not sure what country you're in so I don't want to recommend anything specifically that might not be available to you. If you want to tell me, I can have a look for you, or you can do some searching online.

Hi Robin Lee, thanks for your answer I live in France/Belgium. If you can recommend a few brands, I'll try to find them here. If you can't think of any, I'll search the internet myself. Thanks again, and I wanted to tell you too that I often see your name in the replies here, and I think you're always very clear and thoughtful and helpful

Thank you for the feedback. I aim to be clear, and am glad I succeed. I have a couple of lube names for you to look up: Yes Lube and Maximus. Best of luck, and if you need more input, please ask.
