I have a question I can't seem to get an answer for. My boyfriend and I have been together for 7 months, I'm 19 and he's 21. We're safe about sex and get tested regularly. We can talk to eachother easily about sexual matters, and often talk about trying new things, fantasies, desires etc.
Recently the subject of having sex in a hot tub has arised but I've heard different stories from many people. Some say it feels amazing, others say it's really dangerous because a hot tub is a breeding ground for bacteria. I've also heard it can cause TSS, that water can get trapped in your vagina or uterus and cause major infections, or that the vagina walls can be damaged since water washes away natural lubricants. I enjoy experimenting but I know I wont be comfortable unless I know it's safe. Can anyone help me out?

That last point you made is the most prominent -- water washes away natural lube, so sex in water isn't likely to be comfortable.
Too, hottub/pool water contains lots of powerful, irritating chemicals that really don't belong inside of you. If you think your eyes burn when exposed to pool/hottub water.. hoboy! The biggest concern is birth control; it's near impossible to use a condom safely with water, and even were it to remain on, the friction from no lube would dramatically increase breakage rates. You said STI's aren't a concern, but pregnancy still is. :)

(Let's try not to scare people, eh? There's no reason to think that sitting in a hot tub will hurt you any more than swimming in the lake or ocean. UTI's happen when bacteria gets forced into the urethra; unless you were in a pretty dirty hot tub and were using the jets for vaginal stimulation, chances are it was something else.)

How bout having intercourse while having a shower?

That's pretty darn dangerous!
Showers are slippery and they're not really designed with safe hand/foot holds for sex in mind. No matter how easy and attractive intercourse in the shower may look/sound, it's really not going to be a physically safe or easy idea. As to pregnancy and STI risks, you would still want to use condoms and lots of extra lube (since it's easily washed away by the water). And it would be a wise idea to purchase some of those anti-slip stick-on's for all over your shower if you're determined to give it a try. But really, shower intercourse is a good way to end up in the ER needing stitches or with a broken bone. So you'd be best off to avoid it.
