So today I was supposed to get my period. I get it every Wednesday in the morning... Today I had bad cramps but no period showed up.. is this bad? I mean it could come tomorrow but it's never been this bad with cramping and had nothing show up. I looked some stuff up on google and it said it could also be a sign of pregnancy? To get no period and cramps as if I WAS getting one.. Am I worked up over nothing? The beginning of my pack (I always take my pills at around 7PM).. I took it at 12!! I completely forget and ended up being 5 hours late.. not to mention I did not use a condom on that day.. Other than that I was late two other days around the same time.. but I usually always use a condom... Do you think those couple of hours where I took the pill late and didn't have protection could have been REALLY bad? .. Ever since that day, I set an alarm and have been on time at 7 EVERYDAY. HELP!

Being a little bit late on one pill is not going to compromise the effectiveness of your pills. There's no reason to believe your pill was not protecting you fully from pregnancy. Even when you're taking hormonal birth control, you're not immune to some irregularity every now and again. If you haven't received your withdrawl bleed by the end of your placebo week, you could take a pregnancy test if you're really concerned, but I really doubt you have anything to worry about.

haha well thankyou. You guys always seem to calm me down when I blow things out of proportion. I am just a really paranoid person, always have been especially when it comes to this stuff. I'm careful but I do slip up every once in awhile. I just figured there was a HIGHER chance of getting pregnant if I missed the first pill on the pack by a couple hours.. it just seems really bad.. but it was the ONLY time i did.. :S would the last pack of pills really hold me over for that long even through my lateness? ive been taking bc for over a year now.

There really isn't a higher chance; when birth control is taken consistently, it really isn't so horrible to be late by a VERY small margin (and 5 hours is really that: very small) only once in awhile. Even missing a single pill entirely won't compromise the effectiveness of your pills enough to really pose a risk. This is especially true when you've been taking hormonal birth control for a longer period of time (such as a year or longer, like you have, especially considering all of this time you've been taking it consistently). The only times your risk for pregnancy is really increased when taking hormonal birth control is when you're taking your pills all across the board or when you've missed consecutive or multiple pills in a pack.

okay well thank-you. I'll be so relieved tomorrow if it shows up! especially with all the cramping going on right now. so thanks again for your help!
