SO my girlfriend and I had intercourse on Friday January 4th 2013 and we are wondering how accurate the results of a pregnancy test would be if she took them on the 19th a saturday or on the 21st, a monday? Would the results be trustworthy enough? She is expecting her period sometime this week or early next week and will be taking her test at Planned Parenthood. I didnt ejaculate in her (actually i didnt ejaculate at all) but there was a time when she got off and the condom slipped off--not inside her--and although we stopped having intercourse right away after it slipped we still just want to make sure since the condom was only method of birth control. Thank you

HI Hello123, If you're feeling unsure, your girlfriend getting a pregnancy test is a sound idea. Here's an article all about pregnancy testing. If it doesn't answer your questions, come on back. Peeing on a Stick: All About Pregnancy Tests

The thing is I'm new to sex but she isn't so yeah I'm a bit unsure on how effective our condoms. The facts are that I did not ejaculate, direct genital contact was pretty nonexistent, the condom didnt rip and they were barely bought from a pharmacy with an exp date of 2017. I guess I'm just a bit more paranoid now since like I said I'm new to sex and unsure how much of a risk there was. I was fine before but now not so much... As for the article, if she takes the pregnancy test a planned parenthood this Saturday I will be 14 days since the risk therefore making the results pretty accurate, correct?

I keep reading online that its best to wait till after she misses her period and others that 14 days is okay. The thing is I'm going to be in town that day so I want to be with her while she gets checked and we aren't sure if shell get he prior before or after. On and just to be sure if she does get her period this week...Does That means she isn't pregnant at all?

14 days is enough time for a clinic test to be accurate; the details about that are in the article Robin Lee linked above and here: Pregnancy Scared? So the 19th or 21st would be fine if you went with her then. If she has a regular period before her appointment that's a good sign she isn't pregnant. Some types of bleeding (mainly spotting) are possible during pregnancy, but someone who is pregnant won't have a regular menstrual period.

Yes, if your girlfriend has her period she is not pregnant. If it comes before the appointment and it'll make her relax more to go ahead and get tested, by all means do it (it may be helpful for both of you to talk to a doctor about other birth control options if you worry about this happening again with a condom or just want a backup method available), but she cannot be pregnant and have a period.
