Hi, I'm writing because I've been having bad PMS symptoms, which has never happened before: pain on side of breasts, really nauseous, stomach problems...I'm just worried because I have had this before...My previous period came two days earlier than I had thought and I didn't have any really symptoms. I don't what's going on because I didn't have any kind of risks:I had manual sex three months ago; but hands were washed and everything. Two days after the manual sex, I got my period which was lighteR and lasted less time...I took two pregnancy test to ease my mind which came out negative; granted, I took them in the afternoon and don't know if I get the tests enpugh time to absorb the urine....Any reassurance would be helpful.

HI There, It's common for menstrual cycle to change, which can include changes in the type and severity of premenstrual symptoms, changes in the timing of periods, etc. This is particularly common in the first few years of having one's period. Nothing you've described here sounds concerning.

Hi Robin, Thanks so much for your response. I've actually had my period for a while now, but it's the first time that I've had such bad PMS symptoms. I guess, as you said, many factors can contribute to them. It just came as a surprise to me that I'd have to deal how severe they are this month. I also wanted to ask whether dipping the pregnancy stick in the urine very quickly a second time after thinking that it hadn't absorbed enough of it, would affect the result.

It really shouldn't but if you're worried about it you could always take a second test to be sure. But urine logging it generally means that you get no result at all rather than a negative result. Also, our bodies change over time for so many reasons, so its not uncommon for some months just just be, well, a little weird for us. That goes with hoe heavy or light, timing, PMS being there when it's not usually or just being different than other months.

Thanks Stephanie for your reply and for the information. As for the test, if Robin says there is no cause for concern, then I don't think I need to. I actually did take another test after that first one a few weeks ago, but I let the stick in the cup for only 5-6 seconds instead of 10. I don't remember if I dipped it in the cup again; it was still negative even though I had to wait a bit for the result to appear. Should I re-test?

As stephanie said, you'd be more likely to have no result, or some sort of ambiguous result, than a clearly negative one. It sounds like you know that manual sex doesn't pose a pregnancy risk, and since you did have a period (just one, or have you had two?) since that sexual activity, pregnancy isn't something you need to be worrying about. It really isn't all that unusual to experience premenstrual symptoms in a way one never has before. Granted, if taking another pregnancy test, following the instructions precisely, would helpy ou feel settled, then certainly you can do that.
