So I had the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis and I went to the doctor and she said she got a smell and prescribed me with the antibiotics that were needed to treat it. But i'm off the course now, and It hasnt affected me at all, I have not had sex or been fingered or had oral sex, the close i've been is a penis on my leg... So why do I still have the symtoms? Its really loweing my confidence and making me feel crap, i've resulted iin tears many times over it. Its just really yellow continueous discharge with a weird smell. I just wanna get rid of it Whats wrong with me?? Also, she took a swab test and when the results came back, they said I had no yeast or bacteria :s [ 11-11-2011, 12:44 PM: Message edited by: DoodlesOx ]

How long ago did you finish the antibiotics? Sometimes it can take a bit of extra time for your body to clear out the infection and reestablish a normal balance. It sounds like it's time to head back to your health care provider if you're still having symptoms and have completed your treatment a while ago. It's possible that an infection you had didn't clear up (this happens occasionally) and you need another course of treatment. Another possibility is that, if you were given antibiotics, they threw off your balance and you ended up with a yeast infection as a result. This can happen too.

Well, I only ended them yesterday, so i'll give it a week, and if it doesnt clear up by then, i'll head back to the doctor. But could there be something else wrong with me? Is it something I need to be completely concerned about? Also, I have another question, my clitoris seems to be sort of swollen, I only noticed it today, its always been quite sensitive to touch but it was kinda sore today, I dont masturbate or anything, so I dont know what could have irritated it....

If you still have an infection, it's very likely that that's what's irritating your clitoris. Since you are still having symptoms (and this new one too) I'd not wait a week to head back to the doctor - it's best to get seen sooner.

You see, I would head back to the doctor soon as, but since its closed at the weekends and my period is due monday, I dont really want to go on monday. So i'll just have to wait till after my period has ended. On the swab tests, it came up that I had no bacteria or yeast, so what other infection could I possibly have? Could it just be my mind being really paranoid? Or could it just be my body going through some hormonal changes or stress or something?

Also, at the time when I went to the doctor, she said there was no discharge at that time, so do you think the swab tests could be inacurate? because I definitely have discharge, just not at the time when I went to see the doctor, so should I go for another one? Also, i've been reading online about the persisting symtoms i'm sufferiing with, and i've read so many articles about women who have had BV, for months -even years- and just cannot get rid of it even with antibiotics, is this true? Its really starting to scare me, and I just wan't to feel normal again and im terrified that im gonna be stuck with this now Its interferring with the sexual side to my relationship but im too emabaressed to tell my boyfriend, I just lied and said I had a yeast infection, I didnt want to tell him I had BV symtoms, and that it just wont go away. I have noticed a change in the smell of my discharge, its not as strong as before, and other times, it will not smell at all but later in the day, it will? Does that mean anything? Sometimes infections can be resistant to an antibiotic, when that happens the doctor can give you a different antibiotic. The best thing to do is to discuss all this with your doctor.

My mam refuses to bring me to the doctor, she's convinced that its all in my head. Its making me feel miserable and she just doesnt understand I think she partly doesnt want me to go is because she knows it'll defintiely stop me from doing anything sexual with my boyfriend. She just keeps telling me to 'deal with it' and 'get over it'. What am I gonna do? I feel dirty, and unhealthy, I feel like i'll be stuck with this and its affecting my life

I'm so sorry your mum is being unsupportive. This does sound like something that needs treatment - it obviously isn't going away on its own - so can we help you find a clinic you can get to without your mum's help? If you let us know where you live we can see what's available in your area.

I have had irregular periods in the past, but ever since i started having sex they have been regular withing a few days or so. so natually i started freaking out that i was pregnant. I have taken two pregnancy tests, both coming back negative..but i still havnt had my period. Could i still be pregnant? or is something else wrong? HelP!
