So suppose you went and had unprotected lesbian sex. what procedures would you need to go through to make sure you didn't catch anything??------------------ Prosperity that the golden Muses gave me was no delusion: dead, I won't be forgotten -Sappho

hi shimmering.there are many different ways that lesbians have sex. without knowing exactly what type of lesbian sex you are talking about, it might be a little more difficult to assess your risks of having come into contact with any STIs (to this date, a woman has not been able to impregnate another woman, so pregnancy isn't really a risk).
the only way to determine for sure if you have come into contact with STIs is to get tested. (not sure off hand how long you need to wait before you get tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis) it takes up to 6 months for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, to show up, so that would be a good time to get tested. there are some things that can be transmitted through woman to woman sex that can't be easily tested for, such as HPV and herpes (which are viruses and cannot be cured) and so the only way to know that you have them would be to wait for symptoms to show up (at which point they can be tested for more easily). scarleteen has a semi-comprehensive chart that shows you what STIs you are at risk for based on what sexual behaviors you have engaged in. that can be found here: http://www.scarleteen.com/infection/risk_1.html
in the future, its a good idea to use protecton when having sex wtih a woman. that means using gloves or finger cots for manual sex, dental dams or non-microwavable saran wrap for cunnilingus or analingus, and using condoms on any sex toys. use a water based or silicone lube-- or for oral sex, use a sugar-free flavored lube (just steer clear of non-9 for oral sex-- it tastes pretty nasty). if you don't have access to dental dams, you can convert a condom into a dam by cutting off the tip and cutting up the side of the condom, so it becomes a nice latex square.

Thanks for the help... as far as i know, I don't have any STDs (or at least no symptoms have showed up at this point). i still wanna get me and my partner tested, but I'm 14 and she's 13. (young I know, but we're both mature for our ages) Will they still test us or do we have to be older??------------------ Prosperity that the golden Muses gave me was no delusion: dead, I won't be forgotten -Sappho

You certainly can go get tests. And good for you! I've heard too many really sad stories from lesbians who bought into the myth that lesbians couldn't transmit disease or infection, and when they did, then felt like pariahs because in some lesbian communities, the risks are just simply dismissed.Go ahead and call your local PLanned Parenthood, or call your City Hall to see if your town/city/whatever has its own clinics. I've actually always found those, in cities that have them, to be the most inexpensive and the best when it comes to giving a full range of tests at a nice, low cost.
