I am 19 years old and My periods have always been really bad as far as i can remember. I was 11 when i strated my perioud (few days before my 12th birthday)and they've always been heavy and extremely painful. I have to change my pad at least 4 or 5 times a day, and i can only wear night pads because if i dont I leak everywhere The cramps are awful. I started the pill about 3 months ago now and my cramps are just as bad, infact they're worse. Earlier i even crouched down to the floor because they were that painful. Usually i end up in tears because there that bad. I also get really emotional aswell and can usually get worked up easily which makes my T.O.M even worse! I know you shouldn't trust everything you read on google but i've typed in 'heavy and painful period' and it does come across as common. But also i started seeing things such as "endometriosis" and "Polycystic ovary syndrome ". I've also looked at other bulletin boards like this but im hoping to get some really advice. What should i do

That sounds very not-fun. The conditions you mention can cause troublesome or debilitating symptoms around menstruation, but the only way to find out what's going on for any individual person would be to consult a medical expert. Have you ever spoken to a doctor about your symptoms? If you have, what did they say? If you haven't, then the kind of pain you describe absolutely warrants speaking to one and seeing what might be causing it and what might be done to alleviate your symptoms. In the UK, the way to do that is probably to speak to your GP, and I would hope they would refer you to a gynaecologist.

I also read that heavy periods can make it more difficult to become pregnant, whether this is true im not sure. Well I've mentioned it before but i've never seen a doctor specifically for my period. I'm taking cilest and it said like some of the benefits were your periods will become lighter but they've got more painful. I might be going doctors on wednesday. I'm not sure what a gynaecologist is but i've heard of it before. What will they do?

Some of the conditions that can lead to heavy periods are asociated with difficulty getting pregnant, but heavy periods themselves aren't an indication that someone will have trouble getting pregnant. IN other words, it's not safe or accurate for anyone who has heavy periods to assume that she will have trouble getting pregnant unless she consults a doctor and the tests the doctor does show that pregnancy may or will be difficult. With the degree of pain you're describing, talking to a doctor sounds like a very good idea. Describe it to them the way you described it here to us. The doctor can evaluate you for conditions that might be causing this. Even if they don't diagnose a cause, they can still work with you on controlling the pain so that things are easier and more comfortable for you. A gynecologist is a specialist in women's reproductive and sexual health. A general practitioner (the doctor you go to for yearly checkups and when you're sick) can do many of the things a gynecologist can do, but gynecologists are specialists so they generally have more knowledge and experience in the areas of reproductive and sexual health than general practitioners do. Here's an article that explains what happens at the gynecologist.Your First Gynecologist Visit

Well what i've done is that i've have written down some of my problems on a sheet of paper and i'll take that to the doctor with me. I'll show you what i wrote: > Started at the age of 11 > on Cilest which is a combined pill > Change pad up to 5 times a day > Have to wear night pads > Have has leak issue in past i.e. Worn 2 pads and still leaked through > Extremely painful cramps. > I get tired and turn off like i go in massive trances quite occasionally > sometimes get unusual discharge > Sometimes, not straight away after intercouse I get tiny spots of blood but I don't know if its to do with my hymen. Even thought i've been sexually active sinse june this year > occasionally get back pain > Get emotional > I get alot of think linen on my sanitry towel > Sometimes problems with bowel do you think theyll send me to a Gynecologist?

Diffrent doctors do different things. I've had a general practitioner order tests and, when we get to a certain point of not being able to figure things out, they'll send me to a specialist. I've also had a GP send me to a specialist right away. That's a good idea to make a list! They'll want you to be more specific about some of those things, and I would suggest being more specific about the pain of the cramps, like you were in your post here, since that and the heavy periods are the big problems you're concerned about right now.

Ive used 9 nights pads yesterday and it only had 3 towels left today and changed it at least 5 timestoday . Today I have been experiencing dizziness, light headness and weird pains in my stomach at work. I'm worried I'm starting to expect the worst of scenario

Right i've been to the docs and they've said They need to doa blood test, examination, i could be anemic and there might be issues with my thyroid gland, if i have underactive or overactive hypothyroidism, will that reduce my fertility chances? They couldn't do any chances today because I'm still on my period

Whether any of these things will affect your fertility is something you'll need to ask your doctor. However, all of the things they've suggested it could be are things that a lot of people experience and are very treatable. When do you go back for the examination?
