Hi. I'm 24. I'm kind of worried about my foreskin. I can't pull it back to reveal the head. Even when i try to do this on soft it hurts a little. When it is fully erect there is no head showing at all. And when i attempt to pull the foreskin back it hurts (not much though) and doesn't want to pull back! I've seen some of my friend's penises before and they look like as though they can pull the foreskin all the way back. And also when i watch porn occasionaslly every single male in every single vid i have watched has the head fully showing. What's wrong? Thanks.

Have you checked in with your doctor about this? That's the best place to start: it may be that this is just the way your foreskin is, but sometimes this issue can be due to infection or other causes that are treatable, so you do want to double-check just to be sure.

Not even a little bit, like, let's say, a half inch or so? If not, has this always been the case? If so, have you ever had a genital exam as part of your healthcare?

Yeah, seeing the doctor seems like a good idea. Don't get me wrong, it's not like it doesn't go down at all. When it's fully soft i can pull it down pretty much all the way down to reveal all the head. But it just feels weird. What's the string like thing attached to your head and the skin? Banjo-String? Man, it feels like it's going to snap when i do this! When it's fully erect i find it very difficult to pull the foreskin back. I can pull it down maybe 2cm. But after that it feels really tight to pull it down anymore and the 'Banjo-String' looks like it's going to snap! And there's no way in hell i can pull it back all the way down. not a chance in hell. So when i masturbate or have sex i do so with no head revealed at all. And i find it emabarrassing! How do i get it looking like the guy's penises on porn vids? Do all guys penises look like that when erect? Oh, and yes. It's always been like this. Thanks for the replies. If you are having problems with it not moving more than a centimeter or two over the head when erect without pain, I'd absolutely check in with your doctor. You want to make sure you don't have an infection causing that pain, which is a common reason that happens. But it is also possible that you're just fine, especially if not only has your penis always been this way, but if you have had genital exams and brought this up and the doctor never suggested anything was wrong. How people's genitals and other body parts look in pornography isn't usually a sound way to get a realistic idea of the diversity of bodies. Mainstream porn chooses its actors pretty carefully to avoid diversity most of the time, after all. So no, we can easily say that all guy's penises don't look like the penises in porn. Want to talk about why you find how your penis looks embarrassing?

Well, i just think that other guys are able to pull their foreskin back when fully erect. Thus, showing all of the tip of the penis. Sometimes when i watch porn every guy's penis has the head fully showing when they are erect. Whether it's a 'professional' video or an 'amateur' video, the head is always fully revealed. I managed to pull my foreskin all the way back while on soft today, but it hurt when i touched the head. When it's erect, there's no way in hell i can pull my foreskin all the way back! It's really tight and this has always been the case. Could it just be that i have never actually attempted to pull it back up until now, so the head is not used to being out in the open and this is why it';s sensitive to touch?

Again, I think you need to start by checking in with your doctor. If you are experiencing pain like this, it may well be because something is wrong, like an infection of or beneath your foreskin. If that's the case, you really don't want to go without treatment. Hopefully, when you were small and your parents did your diapering, they were pulling the foreskin back to clean it each time: that's how you do it. Same goes for yourself growing up through now when you bathe. If none of that ever happened, we kind of can't know if this has always been the case for you or not. If any of it did, we CAN know something has changed. But once more with feeling: why don't you start by getting an exam so we can all know what is or isn't going on and be able to serve you best?

If any of it did, we CAN know something has changed. The usual advice now is not to retract infants foreskins when washing or diapering unless they are already free-moving on their own. (This usually doesn't happen.) Retraction during normal cleaning doesn't usually start to happen until age 5 and may take until puberty to fully be mobile on its own (depending upon the individual). (Depending upon your age & the advice your parents were given, they may have been forcibly retracting you as an infant or youth.) ETA: To be clear, I fully support & agree that you need to talk with your doctor about what you are experiencing. Discomfort and difficulty with retraction need to be seen by a care provider. Also, from what I understand, most men in pornography are circumcised (this may be different in the UK, though considering porn online is accessible worldwide, you could've been watching American porn, I don't know), so you would be seeing the full head of the penis because of that as well. But as Heather very importantly stated, porn is certainly not the best way to get an idea of what genitals look like! (And circumcision is a perfect example of that, as plenty of men clearly DO have foreskin! Though I've heard that foreskin may be becoming more common in porn as more men come of age who have foreskin, which is cool. Go diversity!)

Hopefully, when you were small and your parents did your diapering, they were pulling the foreskin back to clean it each time: that's how you do it. In infancy the foreskin is attached to the glans penis, so retracting the foreskin would only cause pain and discomfort. The time of foreskin separation is quite variable, and can occur as early as a few months or as late as age 17 but usually by age 6 or 7.

This sounds like a case of phimoses where the elastic tissues of the foreskin ring have become impaired in some way. This issue can be solved with by stretching excersices and does not need surgery to be resolved. Check with a doctor before doing this to insure that this is indeed a case of phimoses and take care not to force the foreskin over the glands - this could cause a serious problem called paraphimoses which is where the foreskin is stuck over the shaft and block blood flow. Please note that adolescence will have phimoses until around age twelve. That is normal. The problem may also not be the foreskin but the frenelum ( the part that attaches the foreskin to the shaft of the penis). The frenelum may have developed to be too short to allow the foreskin to fully retract (a condition commonly known as frenelum breve). Either way, check with a doctor and inquire about you condition. Neither conditions require treatment to live a healthy life but higher sensitivity and easier cleaning are the benefits of treatment. If you dont want surgery be sure to ask your doctor on alternative treatments (such as the stretching excersizes for phimoses)
