I'm not sure if this forum is the right place to ask this or not but I have an issue. It seems I have developed a rash between the very top inner part of my leg and right where my actual crotch begins. I believe the right term is vulva, yeah? Anyway, I'm slightly a big girl.. and in this area, right off to either side of my actual crotch, basically the area between there and my leg.. I seem to have a rash. It doesn't appear as red as it did but I noticed its very dry and flakey. I thought maybe due to shaving but now it seems to have developed white spots that are way lighter than anything else in this area. It also a few days ago, was kinda burny like the skin there was cracked. Could this have been caused by the heat? Does heat give you white spots? What could this be?

Im suprised no one has gotten back with me on this. It doesn't seem to be getting worse but it looks like the area that's MOST dry (flaking off skin ect) is where the whiter areas seem to be. The aren't spots, they are more like ..areas. If I rub the skin there to brush the dry away, then it gets tender like I've rubbed off dry skin and underneath is new skin. This is perplexing me!

Sorry this got overlooked, Adri. We do our best, but sometimes posts get lost in the shuffle. Unfortunately, about all I can say for sure is that if it doesn't get any better in the next couple of days, it's best to see a doctor. It does sound like it's possibly some sort of allergic reaction or sensitivity - have you switched laundry detergents recently? Using a new kind of soap or body wash?

A while back, I got a rash that sounds very similar, if not exactly like yours. I think, but I'm not sure, that it was caused by wearing too-small undies that chafed in that area, irritated it, and caused the rash. It eventually went away on its own, so it's probably nothing to be horribly alarmed about - but keep in mind that by "eventually," I'm talking months. I never went to see a doctor about it, but I'd second Karybu's advice on that, because your doc can probably help it go away faster. Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone and that it most likely won't kill ya.

Thanks guys. I think I've had this before but I was a lot younger at the time, so it's all a little blurry. Will keep an eye on it and see the doctor if it doesnt get better. I haven't switched any detergents or anything but it could definelty be from chaffing.

Wanted to bump this up cause this still hasn't gone away. It doesn't seem to be from chaffing cause now the area doesn't hurt at all. I read that birth control can cause 'white spots' ..anyone know why this is? What else can cause these spots? And really, it's not a spot.. it's more like, a patch or an area. It's not just a little white dot, it's more of a area that has turned whiter than the rest of everything, on both sides between the leg area. It's like, the bikini area.. and I do shave this area, could it be something from that? So weird. (Edit: From what I've read.. I guess the area is technically considered my labia? or mons? but its wayy over to like where your panties end near your leg/bikini area.) [ 08-11-2007, 12:39 PM: Message edited by: Adri ]

You know, at this point, you've had the patchy area here for over a month- we can't really diagnose stuff over the 'net, and since you've had this for so long now, I think it's well past time for you to visit your doctor or gyn to get it checked out.
