I posted about a year or so about a week before I gave birth to my son. It was called "Abused, pregnant, and scared". I just wanted to let you guys know that Connor and I are doing well- I moved to Chicago for a semester, but it was very hard managing school and a baby with no support network. So I transferred to an equally high caliber university about an hour from my parents house and commute. I'm now studying Optical Engineering. Connor is such a good boy and loves everyone in his life. I know it will be hard for him not to have a father, but he has SO MANY people who love him, he may not even notice for a long time! I struggled with breastfeeding and ended up pumping- I managed to increase my milk supply from 4 oz to 32 oz after LOTS of hard work. I feel so good that I can give him something that only I can give him. I'm also exploring the idea of a relationship with my best friend. He was the one who was up until 4 am with me every night when I was pregnant and not sure what to do. He is so kind and we have a great deal in common. It is REALLY hard though. There will probably always be a piece of me that misses my son's biological father. He was my first everything, and there are lots of times I do miss him. It is also very physically draining being a mom. You also constantly feel like you aren't good enough. I'm not a "mommy" person either lol. But I'm doing it, and I do love Connor. I just wanted to say thank you for your help! I know I don't have alot of posts, but it was very helpful at a time I needed it. Obviously I am very busy with Connor and school and life, but I'd be happy to support anyone else who is navigating parenting or dealing with an abusive relationship. Shit happens! But don't give up on your dreams.

katia, it's great to see you again, and so wonderful to hear that you're doing so well, and that your son is, too! It sounds like you're doing an excellent job with it all, including working it out to keep moving forward with other parts of your life besides parenting, which is, of course, great for you AND your son. Our hat off to you!

Hi Katia, So good to hear from you and happy you're doing well. I understand what you're saying about doing well but it also being hard, and also that piece of you missing your ex. All very normal.
