So, I've recently been worrying about a pregnancy but I've been told that I should be fine sense nothing went wrong with the condom, though I am yet to be on another form of birth control so that's kind of why I'm so worried. I decided, for extra mind-easing and for my own personal health, to go buy a HPT. I got a box of two and used one 5 days before my period then again 3 days before. Both were negative and I was just wondering if I'm in the clear for pregnancy. I've had my PMS symptoms and no period yet (supposedly supposed to start tomorrow) and I just need to know if I'm alright so I don't freak out if my period is late. (I know I've posted about similar worries, but I caved and took a test and just need to know if i did the test right/accurately) Thank you very much.

Did you take the HPT at least fifteen days after the incident you're worried about? If so, you're in the clear. HOWEVER: If you took the tests less than fifteen days after the incident, they didn't tell you anything. It takes time for enough pregnancy hormones to build up in your system to be detectable on a test. Finally, however, if nothing went wrong with the condom, even though you are not yet on another form of birth control, there is no reason to think that you're pregnant at all.

Ideally, you really do always want to wait to test for pregnancy until a period actually is late. There's little harm in doing so before (save false positives from chemical pregnancy that can happen), save to your pocketbook, since results from tests taken early just may not be accurate. Like we've said to you already with your posts, you even having a realistic risk here seems highly unlikely, so it's unlikely you're pregnant, no matter what. But when it comes to tests, no, I wouldn't consider results from tests taken before a period is due to be as accurate as I would a test taken after it's late.

Alright. I will take one again after tomorrow if my period doesn't happen, just to be safe. I'd rather know then figure I'm not. Thanks.

Or, if you don't want to buy another one, did you ever make that appointment with someone to talk about contraception? If so, know a pregnancy test is usually part of those visits.

I haven't been able too.. I've been having some family issues and haven't been able to get an appointment or a ride to get one. I'm going to set one up myself if my mother hasn't by the time i get onto my summer break. Till then, I don't mind buying one.

((Sorry, don't mean to double post)) Well, my period was late so I took the test 2 more times and both were negative. That makes 4 negative tests. I'm figuring I just didn't ovulate this month, I tend to have an off month every once and a while. But I am still having some of my PMS symptoms, is that normal?

PMS symptoms are totally normal. In your case, I would assume that they mean that your period is on it's way. If you are really having an "off month", you may be off schedule. Or you just may be off schedule because sometimes that randomly happens.

Alright. I know I got very stressed like right after the last time I had sex which was earlier this month. I just didn't know if perhaps something might be wrong. Thanks for the help.
