Pregnancy tests are to be taken at the first late or missed period.
The hormone they test for (human chorionic gonadotrophin) develops in a pregnant woman as soon as seven days after fertilization. But since that may not happen on the day a risk was had, but as many as five days afterwards, waiting until the first missed or late period or until about two weeks after an incident of risk is advised for an accurate test.
