Hey, I've posted on here a good bit before but nothing recently. I realize that balding is cosmetic and no matter what happens I'll still be alive and healthy, but naturally, it still bothers me. I'm 18 years old and have been losing hair for about a year. Most people wouldn't notice walking down the street but, of course, I notice. My post is for anyone with knowledge or experience in the area. I have bad genetics as far as hair loss is concerned, but i have little stress, and I've been using Rogain for about 6 months and propecia for about 3 weeks. Does anyone know how long it will take to see the results of propecia, and should i expect it to stop or is it just tough luck for me...Thanks.

I didn't know this, but i googled it. Google is your friend

http://www.e-scriptstore.com/mens/propecia_detail.asp says that results can be seen as early as 3 months, but it takes longer than that for most men. So, seeing no improvement over 3 weeks isn't surprising.

This is a prescription drug, i'm assuming ... ? I'm surprised your doctor didn't explain this to you. Generally your doctor or pharmacist is the best person to ask when it comes to questions regarding medication.

I don't want to scare you... but you might want to look at the side effects of using prescription drugs for hair loss. My boyfriend considered using the drugs but realized that they could create birth defects in his future children.

My hair started thinning drastically when I was 18. I thought I would be bald like my uncles and both grandfathers. But then the hair loss stopped. 40 years later, I still have my hair. With male pattern baldness, you really can't tell what will happen.
