If you aren't someone who uses Twitter -- or you are -- have you been here yet?

https://twitter.com/search?q=%23solidarityisforwhitewomen&src=hash

If you haven't, we can't recommend you go spend some time reading there enough, whether to get an education you don't have yet, or to connect with other amazing women of color.

If you want to talk about it, we'd love to. personally, I'm not sure I've ever seen social media used for something so revolutionary and incredible.

I will just ask that if what you want to talk about is feeling defensive or upset as someone who is NOT a woman of color, that you make an effort to talk about that in a way that addresses your feelings while still supporting and honoring the efforts and truths of those tweeting with this.

Wow, this is really awesome! Since I don't use twitter, I had no idea that this hashtag existed. But as a woman of color, I must say that this helps to fuel my optimism for how cool and powerful the internet can be. It's also interesting to see this sort of intersectionality between race and feminism become a lot more digestible for readers in the form of brief twitter posts, as opposed to long, scholarly articles about this subject.

All in all: four for you interwebs, you go interwebs! [Smile]

Hey Heather! Just thought I'd update you on how I actually wrote a paper recently citing this hashtag in one of my classes, since we were reading a piece by bell hooks that talked about divides within the feminist community and why it's hard for women to achieve solidarity. My professor really liked what I wrote, and I'd like to say thanks for making me aware of this hashtag. [Smile]

Just to add, I felt really good about that hashtag and what surrounded it.

This follow up article by Kendall is fantastic too and I definitely recommend it... Even if I remember I had some problems with other stuff on the same website:
