The other day I was listening to NPR, and it was one of those game shows, you know, "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" or something. Here's what happened. Apologies for my bad memory.
Host: So-and-so, Playboy's Miss Whatever-month-it-was is Playboy's first openly blank Playboy bunny. Contestant:[no hesitation] Gay. Host: No, Jewish.
To me this means that the term "open" when use in reference to a person is now strongly connected to being queer. I wouldn't say I find it odd, just interesting. Anyone else?
