My boyfriend took me out for a romantic evening last night, and I swear it was just PERFECT. Well, okay, not PERFECT -- I hated the restaurant he picked, but I managed to fake it well enough that he didn't notice -- and then we went back to his apartment and...

He was kissing me so gently and I was feeling so close to him, and for the first time in my life, it just felt like, well, "The Right Time". And instead of him suggesting it and me doing it out of obligation, I asked him: "Do you want to?" And he said, "Are you sure?" and I said, "I am definitely sure."

It was gentle, it was slow, it was caring. He didn't do anything I didn't like and if he started to I would direct him elsewhere and he'd just move on. Same thing with what I did to him. We took our time, were really considerate of each other, and when he got up to go get a condom (he knows I don't like condomless sex, even though I'm on the pill) it didn't even kill the mood like it sometimes does. And then I had sex, for the first time in my life, because I wanted to, because I longed for the closeness with my partner, not because it "just happened" or I felt obligated.

I didn't orgasm, but that didn't really concern me -- I've been on antidepressants for so long that I have long since stopped worrying about getting an orgasm even when I masturbate. And afterward, when I wanted space, we got up and put our clothes back on and sat next to each other on the couch for a while without touching.

It was gentle and sweet and just wonderful. Best night ever.
