I'm embarrassed to say but here I am, twenty or so years old and waiting by the phone for a guy to text/call me. I'm really new to "dating" because my long term relationship ended about a year ago and haven't really dated anyone since or before!

So, how long should I wait? A week is too long, eh? I don't know the etiquette! Fill me in [Smile]

[excitement!!!]

Why don't you call him instead of waiting?

Because I don't have his number, otherwise I definitely would. [Cool]

I see! How unfortunate - is there any other way you can get in touch with him? If not, I wouldn't let it go longer than a couple of days.

It really depends what the two of you are interested in, but I'm a big fan of activities that give you a chance to talk and get to know each other a bit better. For example, my current partner and I went out for coffee and then to the local science museum on our first date. It's probably better to keep it more casual too - formal dinners out can be lots of fun, but there can also be a lot of pressure for things to go well, for everyone to be on their best behaviour, etc. so sometimes that sort of situation makes things a bit awkward.

Okay, great. I like to keep things casual. Thank you for your input.

Haven't gone on the date yet. But thought I'd pop by...I don't know what to do. He smokes cigarettes.

Is that something you'd consider a deal-breaker? For some people it is, for others it's something they can deal with, but it is really up to you to decide how you feel about dating someone who smokes.

We hung out two days in a row...but he hasn't called or texted for three days! Does that mean his interest has wavered? Why am I obsessing so much! But I really would like to know...should I wait to hear from him?

Now that you (presumably) have his contact information, why don't you just drop him a line?
