Over this summer one of my guy friends (lets call him Jay) and I got really close. We had be friends for about 3 years now and have always been close friends but not as close as we are now. When we first met he was dating one of my girl friends at the time but when they went through a very messy and hard break up she decided to get out of both of our lives. I was always there for Jay and I quickly learned he was always there for me to. Well sometime after they broke up, Jay and I ended up having sex. And that's when things between us really got started. We would talk non-stop I mean late night phone calls, IM, Facebook, sat together on the bus to school. We quickly fell for each other. Everything was going great between the talking died down some we didn't talk as much but still talk at least 5-6 days out of the week.

Well this year his parents discovered we had slept together. As far as they know it only happened that one time a couple years ago but that is far from the truth. Now his parents have done just about everything to keep us away from each other. They have blocked my cell and house phone numbers from his cell and house phone, and only recently was he allowed to refriend me on facebook, although they monitor everything that goes on between us on there. for the past 6 months now we have been having to sneak around just to see eavh other. His parents know we still are friends and do see each other but are not happy about it in the least. We want to date and have wanted to for months now, the only thing holding us back is his parents. oh and we are both 18. How can I help his parents like me again and trust us together? Is there even anything I can do?

Is your sense that this is about you, specifically, or that this is about Jay having sex, period? or perhaps not being honest with his parents about that, period?

His parents knew he had sex before just not with me til recently. Jay tells me that they don't like me or us being together. I have heard things from them and him ranging from it just being trust issues to me being a bad influence on him. When everything that has gone one between us is consensual and mutual. He treats me like a princess and is one of the best guys I have ever know. His parents think the polar opposite of him and of us being together period.

So -- sorry if I'm being daft -- you think this is about you, specifically?

If so, did they know you well or at all before you two got involved?

Have you yet tried asking if you could talk with the two of them?

yes, it is about me specifically.

And yes, I believe they do know me I haven't given them any reason to not like me.

Well, they obviously feel they have their reasons. Just sounds like you may not know what they are or agree with them.

Like I said, though, have you asked for some time to talk with them about this? maybe invited them over to a dinner with your folks, or asked if they'd go out for tea or some such with you alone?
